It may have been two weeks since the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards, but there were tons of performances that I haven’t stopped thinking about. Here’s a little recap of the best of the best, featuring Missy Elliott’s electrifying Video Vanguard medley, Megan Thee Stallion’s pre-show latex look, and Normani’s highly-anticipated solo debut live on the big stage. Let’s take a trip down memory lane for the VMA performance highlights!
Last month’s event boasted a killer lineup of performers (notably lots of WOCs which I am here for) and tons of buzz surrounding the return of Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott as she was (finally) awarded the Video Vanguard Award. The slated acts included Miley Cyrus, Camila Cabello, Big Sean, Lizzo, Rosalia, Ozuna, Normani, and several more.
My favorite performances were from Missy Elliott (reminding us that all of her songs are her best song), Rosalia and Ozuna (her latex leggings and embellished bodysuit were making me jealous), and obviously Megan Thee Stallion (wondering why she was only in the pre-show, but whatever).
