Abel Tesfaye, better known to the masses as The Weeknd, dropped a frenetic new music video to accompany the pulsating track “Heartless”, and also shared a second single “Blinding Lights” to kick off this new era – which he has personally described as a “brain melting psychotic chapter”.
After The Weeknd revealed a “blank slate” of an Instagram account just last week, a cryptic message reading “the fall starts tomorrow night” appeared on the R&B singer’s profile with a single black & white photo.
The vague statement was further accompanied by several chaotic, blurry images of the star over the course of a few days. The confusion ceased shortly after, with Abel taking to Episode 7 of Memento Mori on Beats 1 Radio to debut the new material. The new material includes the audacious, high-octane Metro Boomin-produced track “Heartless” and the futuristic, Starboy-remniscent single “Blinding Lights”.
