It’s finally here – Episode #358 of The Minimal Beat! Last Saturday, I was so graciously asked to stop by Chicago’s Lumpen Radio to curate a one-hour slot of tunes as guest DJ on The Minimal Beat, a weekly series featured exclusively on 105.5 WLPN-LP. The Minimal Beat is also Chicago-based blog showcasing relevant music with no genre-specific focus – cool, right? Listen to me ramble and discuss the local music scene, revisit some of my favorite concert memories, and so much more.
Some of the featured artists during my segment include Childish Gambino, Pional, Richie Quake,Tame Impala and Flume just to name a few. I pretty much could have gone any direction with this, but specifically put together a set of songs with really seamless transitions from track to track. I also wanted to sonically summarize the elements and production that I personally like in music, but spread across as many genres and styles as I could within that timeframe. So if someone were to ask me “what type of music do you usually listen to?” – this set of tracks would provide an pretty accurate description of my tastes and is purely based on what I like to hear and nothing else.
Welllllll without further ado – let’s get to it! You can listen to the full stream and interview here (the full episode is 2 hours, but if you jump to the 59-minute mark you can get right into my set.) Don’t forget to visit my Instagram and Facebook to check out exclusive photos of me in preparation for my night, and some behind the scenes videos. Thank you to all my friends, family, and followers who took the time to listen to the radio and support me on something that was really important.
Extra special thank you to my friend Billy over at Lumpen Radio for having me stop by, and I hope it’s just the first of many visits. Please make sure to show The Minimal Beat some love by visiting www.theminimalbeat.com and following them on Facebook and Instagram! Also check out the extended Spotify playlist which features additional songs that we just couldn’t squeeze in! Thanks again and let me know what you think!
