Now Watching: Phases

DREAMING OF MY PARADISE

My boys Majid Jordan are back at again with yet another impressive visual to support their latest track “Phases”. The new music video dropped about 2 weeks ago – roughly a month after the song’s release.  The single’s cover art is super simple, and the title is laid out with a really cool reflection effect. I also like the subtle hint of texture of behind the words – almost like a silk tapestry.

In contrast to the cover’s simplicity, colorful video features vivid shots bursting with clarity and life. I love their brotherhood and watching them play off of each other, and this is one of their most revealing videos from a “being themselves” perspective. The lyrics clearly appear to be autobiographical (“I came to this country, didn’t know a damn thing. 18 years old and in need of planning…”) but of course can be applied to many walks of life.

I definitely feel like I’m changing along with the seasons, and the lyrics mirror phases that I am also experiencing in my life.

All of these people and all of their names
All of this love and all this disdain
All of these seasons and all of this change
Dreaming of my paradise

Fresh off of NYC’s Governor’s Ball, you can catch the guys at this year’s Lollapalooza in August. Check out the video for “Phases” now!
