A NEW ALBUM ON THE WAY FROM TEI SHI
Tei Shi is an amazing Argentine singer-songwriter and producer I’ve been listening to for some time, and she’s back with new music for 2017! She’s been out of the circuit for a minute and I am beyond thrilled to hear what she’s been working on. This will be her first full-length album, despite releasing 2 EPs over the past couple of years.
I stumbled across her tunes about 2 years ago through a radio station I “created” on like, Google Play or something. I think it was through a Braids-based channel, I was introduced to numerous songs of hers – all of which I liked.
Each one more different than the last, but all were like something I’d really never really listened to before. Her harmonies are what made me look further into her catalog, if you will, and I was pleasantly surprised by her songs.
After hearing the songs “See Me”, followed by “Nevermind the End” on the little radio stream, I purchased everything I could find online: 2013’s debut EP Suadade and 2014’s EP Verde.
After wildly diving into Tei Shi’s tracks, into the wormhole I went – because at this point I’d purchased her music so quickly I didn’t even know who I was listening to. I had to put a face to the voice and I picked the first live performance I could find on the ‘Tube and of a track I’d not yet listened to.
The things she does with her voice on the track “Go Slow” live are amazing. Only a minute into this video she switches up the octaves with each verse she sings, and takes the highs and lows at different times in the song (something that I LOVE when artists do live – sing your own backing vocals, yaaaaasss.)
So lately I’d been reminiscing through older albums and I just happen to be revisiting her music. And then suddenly here we are with her teasing new material on the ‘gram.

And then just like that the video was here, and in just weeks we’ll be listening to the album. That voice. Those curls. That robe & slippers combo.
