LADY GAGA RELEASES THIRD MUSIC VIDEO FROM JOANNE
Pretty much less than 72 hours after her well-received Super Bowl Halftime Show, Lady Gaga struck while the iron was hot and surprised us all with a brand new music video.
The Jonas Åkerlund-directed short is fast-paced, explosive ride set to a vibrant assortment of colorful transitions and neon imagery. Just seconds into the video you’re aware of it’s spoof-like quality (i.e. Gaga having beer bottles broken over her head or wildly hanging off the back of a horse) and will find yourself laughing (and scratching your head) until the end.
If the direction and styling of the clip looks familiar, it’s probably because Åkerlund also directed the music videos for both “Paparazzi” and “Telephone” – two of my personal favorites from the Gaga vault.
There is a LOT going on in these 3 minutes (to say the least), but if you’re lucky you’ll catch some really cool shots – I’m sure I’ll have to watch this about 10 more times to catch everything! Initially, this track on the album definitely gave me country-western vibes (obviously), but now that I’ve seen the video I have a whole new take on the song and it’s a bit more edgy to me now. Now it seems to fit seamlessly into the record more so than before.
Every John is just the same
I’m sick of their city games
I crave a real wild man
I’m strung out on John Wayne
Some of my favorites moments are (again) any time a bottle is cracked over her head, the sequined/encrusted bra top, that one-legged bodysuit, and of course:
WHEN SHE’S USING HER HEELS AS GUNS *dead*
Watch the wild video for “John Wayne” and let me know what you think!
If you liked this video, go back and check out a live performance of “John Wayne” from the 2016 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show!
And don’t you dare forget that she’ll be joining forces with METALLICA at Sunday night’s 59th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.
