Sleigh Bells have released a beautifully dark video for their single “I Can Only Stare” – just 2 weeks ahead of their new LP Jessica Rabbit which drops November 11.
For me, this track has easily been the highlight of the previously released Jessica Rabbit singles, and was I very interested in seeing what direction they would go with the video.
It loosely follows three women, who clearly have had their hearts broken to the point of no mend, and how they have come to terms with said heartbreak differently. I’m loving the lower-quality-than-usual filming approach, which really works well with the 80’s feels I get from the instrumental. The deep synth in the song alongside the long-lens shots in the video is perfection.
