♥ BAD BITCH ALERT ♥
The ultra-gorgeous, brutally honest, and extra down-to-earth princess of dark pop just showed up out of nowhere and snatched my wig yet again. I’m a bit biased because I am definitely a ride-or-die Charli XCX listener, but this is my FAVORITE album right now. There’s pretty much elements of all of her past albums all rolled into the perfect – mixtape?
Number 1 Angel has the best mix of tracks that include the high-energy electro-pop sounds like the Vroom Vroom EP, the more dark, honest, R&B vibes like True Romance, and then really strong 90’s pop vocal tracks that could be considered more “radio-friendly” like the ones from Sucker. Personally, while everyone was hating on the Sucker era I was still a steady listener and continued to catch her on various tours over the past couple of years. I have no issue with artists taking risks and allowing us to perceive their work as we may; it’s an evolution and only natural to want to experiment!

Leading up to the drop, there really wasn’t any solid information floating around regarding the mixtape’s concept, collaborations, or release date. So last week, pretty much out of nowhere she announced the mixtape title and previewed a few tracks exclusively on BBC Radio. Of course this happened while I was working so i didn’t even know this was going on for hours.
Once I saw that she was releasing the record in less than 72 hours, I figured I’d just pass on the previews and just buy it. I wasted no time getting the album pretty much at 11:59pm on March 10 so I could have something to listen to on my morning commute. I DIDN’T KNOW IT WOULD BE SO LIT THO.
