Happy Tuesday! Here’s a quick little update of some long-awaited album releases, live shows you have to catch, and some really incredible new music videos. I have been basically rotating the same 3-4 albums over the past couple of months so here’s where I’m at; I’m open to any and all suggestions!
New Video and EP Release Date from Little Dragon!
Swedish synth-pop collective Little Dragon have detailed their forthcoming 4-track EP, which is the follow-up to 2017’s Season High. “Lover Chanting” is the new video (and also the title track) of the upcoming 6th record album, set to be released on November 9. Juice WRLD Releases WRLD ON DRUGS Album!
Chicago’s very own Juice WRLD is on a roll right now, with nothing but praise following his recent North Coast Music Festival set, and now this amazing collaborative record with Future: WRLD on Drugs. This is the follow-up to Goodbye & Good Riddance which was only just released back in May; that’s a lot of music!
Between the two rappers, there’s already three new music videos available for your enjoyment. There’s title track “WRLD on Drugs”, “Realer and Realer”, and “No Issue”- which is naturally a Cole-Bennett directed feature. “Realer and Realer” is my favorite of the three, which features a cameo from Young Thug and is also the first time I’ve seen a beanie modified for dreads in the front – and I’m here for both. Listen to Cardi B’s New Single “Money!”
While bouncing back faster than ever after becoming a new mommy, Cardi is back with new music and does not appear to be slowing down any time soon. In recent months, she’s been featured on a ton of hot tracks like Pardison Fontaine’s “Backin it Up” and also her collaboration with Selena Gomez, DJ Snake and more on “Taki Taki” – which is just shy of 250 million YouTube views.
With appearances like the 2018 BET Awards and this week’s Mala Luna Festival under her belt – I am definitely ready for more Cardi B live performances – what about you? Do you think we’ll get a video for “Money?” Hopefully we get a really over-the-top, elaborate visual from Cardi on this one, but for now you can check out the song and let me know what you think!
Travis Scott Drops “Sicko Mode” Video!
The wildly unique, Dave Meyers-directed video includes some of the most stunningly innovative visual effects I have seen in awhile. I mean that comes as no surprise with Meyers, who has famously curated unforgettable pieces since the 90s from Juvenile to Britney, Missy Elliot to Macy Gray.
The 5-and-a-half minute piece for “Sicko Mode” features Drake, lots of crazy scene transitions, and shout outs to Houston, naturally. My favorite scenes are shot in the parking lot with Travis’ distorted proportions changing while the background is moving faster in time-lapse. And of course, the part with the young lady twerkin in Drake’s lower eyelid. I couldn’t make that up if I tried.
Astroworld Fest in Houston is in exactly 3 weeks, and if this is any indication of the amount of stupid I’m about to encounter – I am ready for it. There hasn’t been any further information sent out about the fest but show details are allegedly coming soon. Can we please have the Astroworld album performed in full with all of the features live? Will there be rides? What the hell is going on, La Flame? Stay tuned and I’ll be sharing what happens. For now, check out the…sick…video for “Sicko Mode” featuring Drake. Also, where’s Swae Lee?
