Music Overload: March 1, 2019

Let me try and kick off the month with a little more productivity and less procrastination – so here’s a quick little recap of some new videos, upcoming tours, and new albums!

Brand New Album and Music Video from Ladytron

https://www.instagram.com/ladytron

To say it’s been a while would be an understatement, as the last record from the British synthwave electro-geniuses Ladytron was 2011’s Gravity the Seducer. BUT the elusive quartet have just debuted a full-length self-titled record, which came out on February 1. The Ladytron release follows the singles “Far From Home”, “The Animals”, and most recently: “The Island.”

Ladytron – released February 15, 2019

The borderline disturbing, visually stunning film for “The Island” depicts what appears to be the future, and focuses on an unnamed human-like species that has escaped from some scientist’s captivity. I get really strong Stranger Things vibes and love the emotions behind the story.

I could not be happier that the band has released more music, and I can say that ever since 2005’s Witching Hour – music was never the same experience again. The composition of their works and atmospheres they can create through sound are out of this world. Which makes this video all the more fitting. Check out the video below and share your thoughts!

Doja Cat and Rico Nasty Team Up on Tit-Praising Track “Tia Tamera”

Watch Doja and Rico Nasty fulfill our technicolor throwback dreams, in the unexpected new collaboration. In the spot-on video, they take on every bit of your 90’s teen nostalgia from Lisa Frank to Nickelodeon, B.A.P.S. (for the real ones) and of course: legendary teen sitcom Sister, Sister – featuring identical twins Tia and Tamera Mowry.

With a catchy tempo, flirty vignettes, and lighthearted lyrics to match (“I rock the boat like Aaliyah, I rock a bob like Sia”) – what’s not to love? Check out “Tia Tamera” now!

Cardi B Jumps on Blueface’s Thotiana Remix + Music Video

Lyrical Lemonade is back with another Cole Bennett-directed clip following the success of the viral smash hit “Thotiana”. The single has spawned countless memes, covers, and even remixes from artists like Nicki Minaj (“Bust Down, Barbiana”), YG, Slim Thug, and Young M.A, just to name a few. Grammy Award winning rambunctious rapper Cardi B is featured on this latest version, and if you squint: is that a new piercing Cardi? Peep the new video here!

MARINA (no Diamonds): Debut Album Out This April

Marina Diamandis (of Marina and The Diamonds fame) will be sharing her solo project this Spring, titled LOVE+FEAR. The album is set to be released on April 26 and is actually two, 8-track collections that form a set.

For the lead single “Handmade Heaven”, Diamandis shared a Sophie Muller-directed visual. The video pairs the song alongside crisp, arctic scenery and time-lapsed, cinematic effects that add color to the cold atmosphere. The song really starts to build around the second half, where there’s a little more weight to the track and it gets a little moodier. The next single release is called “Superstar” and will be released March 1 – stay tuned. For now, check out “Handmade Heaven” to get a taste of MARINAS’s solo sound!

Offset Drops New Video Featuring Gucci Mane: “Quarter Milli”

Father of 4 – released February 22, 2019

The final member of Atlanta rap ensemble Migos to release a solo project, Offset shares a second video in just 2 weeks. The last one was for “Red Room“,which was the first single to be released off of the significantly Metro Boomin-produced debut record: Father of 4. Favorite tracks of mine include “Lick”, “Clout,” “Legacy”, and “North Star” with collaborations from Travis Scott, Cardi B and 21 Savage featured amongst the few. Speaking of collaboration – watch “Quarter Mill” featuring ATL icon Gucci Mane right here!
