While it’s pretty apparent that I’ve taken some time off here and there, I haven’t stopped going to live shows and exploring new music. I’m honestly still exhausted with acclimating to my new job and work-life schedule, and just straight-up tired. I obviously still want to share a lot of music that’s impacted me over the past few months, so I’ll probably be catching up on a lot of older material in addition to new releases. CALVIN HARRIS + DUA LIPA’s “One Kiss” Music Video
Fresh track. Fresh haircut. Count me in. I’ll be honest, I am not the biggest Calvin Harris fan, but every now and again one of his pop collaborations totally gets me. The first time was with Ellie Goulding on “I Need Your Love”, and more recently with “This Is What You Came For” featuring Rihanna. He always ends up working with really influential, strong, female powerhouses and I am admittedly a huge sucker for pop vocalists. This is such a catchy song, and Dua Lipa is the perfect artist to sing on this track.
I can only describe the music video as having a retro, Barbie-dreamhouse, paper doll, Sims-like effect to it – I don’t know what else to say! But it’s really stunning and each scene is so creative. After failing on 3 separate occasions, I am finally getting to not only see Dua Lipa on my birthday at Lollapalooza on August 4, but also at her sold-out after show the night before! The perfect summer bop to accompany my impending demise – check out “One Kiss” From Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa.
EMPRESS OF’s New Songs “Trust Me Baby” and “In Dreams”

First of all – congrats to sis on being a featured artist in the new i-D and MAC Cosmetics short film: A to Z Of Aaliyah, which celebrates the late singer’s influence in the music, fashion, and beauty industry. Can you say queens? After you recover from that, listen to some brand new music from dreamy, electronic singer-songwriter Lorely Rodriguez – better known as Empress Of. Are these potentially from an upcoming release? The follow-up to 2015’s Me? I need to know!
RAE SREMMURD’s SR3MM Album
SR3MM is the (still kind of) new 27-track triple-album from the Mississippi hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd, and was released in early May. This is the follow up to 2016’s SremmLife 2, and brothers Slim Jxmmi and Swae Lee have tons of support on this record, which included features from Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Zoë Kravitz, Juicy J, Pharrell and more.

Standout tracks for me are “42” (in the clip above with that distorted bass), “Touchscreen Navigation” (an actual vibe and my favorite on the entire album), “T’d Up” (for when I’m aggressively getting dressed to go out), “Heat of The Moment”, and “Close”. I’ve been a little moody lately, so Swaecation has been my go-to of the three SR3MM components, more-so for the melodic, emotional qualities of the tracks on Swae Lee’s record in particular. I honestly haven’t dabbled all the way into Jxmtro, but I am taking suggestions for memorable tracks; what are they? Let me know!

RESCHEDULED: Sleigh Bells Chicago Tour Date
Eight years ago, I saw Sleigh Bells for the first time in Atlanta while touring their debut album Treats. I’ve managed to snag a ticket to nearly all of their sets, so I was definitely sad when January’s show was cancelled earlier this year. Well now I can stop crying because they’ll be back at The Metro this summer, playing the rescheduled Chicago date on August 17th! Tickets are on sale now, and don’t wait too long – they always put on a great show and it will sell out!
