Best of 2022 – Music Videos That Put in the Work

BEST OF 2022 – MUSIC VIDEOS: This short list I’ve put together encompasses not only just songs that were on constant repeat for me this year, but tracks that were accompanied by extraordinary music videos that complimented the overall listening experience. While there are so many incredible visuals I could have included in the rankings, this specific bunch made a mark in the industry and also left a lasting impression on me the most.

Now Watching: Rochelle Jordan “Next 2 You”

Happy Almost-Friday! And can you believe we’re already wrapping up another month of 2021? It’ll be summer before we know it, and that usually means a ton of new music and (maybe shows?) are thankfully on the horizon. I wanted to talk about an artist I just discovered a few weeks ago – the amazing UK-born R&B singer/songwriter Rochelle Jordan. I’ll share my first impressions with the song and video for her single “Next 2 You”, which I’ve been listening to on repeat. And you know what’s even better? I’m just in time for a brand new album release THIS weekend!

BTS world domination continues in 2021, as the Grammy-nominated group joins the likes of greats like Mariah Carey, Elton John, Lauryn Hill, Alanis Morissette, Maxwell, Nirvana and more in the season premiere of MTV Unplugged’s 27th season. The groundbreaking series has been running for over 30 years now, and yes – it still airs on TV. Crazy, I know. Upcoming Livestream: BLACKPINK: THE SHOW

For K-pop royalty’s very own Blackpink, this upcoming weekend undoubtedly marks their largest, most-anticipated live performance since their record-breaking appearance at 2019’s Coachella Music Festival. The first Korean girl group to perform at a U.S. festival, the ladies showed the states exactly what they were about and left us wanting more. No, literally. We wanted more and after wrapping up the Blackpink In Your Area World Tour about a year ago – BLINKS are finally getting their wish. Virtually, of course.

Video Vibes: 2020’s Unforgettable Quarantine Performances

We all miss live music right? It’s honestly been forever since we’ve been to a concert. For me? Last February to be exact – so sad. But, I guess I am pleased that at least our generation has limitless capabilities when it comes to sharing media and content online. While the seemingly endless virus created a physical disconnect between the musician and the fan, 2020’s social distancing restrictions allowed for artistic freedom, thinking outside of the box, and an opportunity to push creativity to the limit in an attempt to remain continuously engaged with supporters.

Now Playing: KAI – The First Mini Album

Kai (EP) - Wikipedia
KAI (self-titled), released by Kai on November 30, 2020

The incredibly talented (and unjustly attractive) singer and dancer Kim Jong-in, mononymously known as Kai, released his debut solo project just over a month ago, extending his work beyond active K-pop groups Exo and SuperM (both of which he’s also a current member). The self-titled mini album was prefaced by a visually stunning teaser FILM: KAI just mere days before it’s official release. Known for his enthralling dance skills and smooth voice, this literal Gucci model was able to really shine in his element with this R&B project masterpiece.

Rewind: Best Albums of 2020!

Happy (almost) New Year! I know I have been gone for like months, but I wanted to return on a good note and share some of the music and artists that have been getting me through this whole pandemic situation. I know, who thought I’d be using the word pandemic in an intro – but here we are. Anyway, there were a lot of changes in the world and in my life, and that also includes changes to my taste in music and exactly how I absorb content. I found myself not wanting to really relate to anything at the start of this, and as I turned to a lot of new music in foreign languages, it kind of took me back to a purely sonic approach to determining what sounds actually caught my attention (detached from the lyrics themselves). So, you may see some things here that are new, surprising, or even shocking – but isn’t that what 2020 was all about? These few selections are based purely on my perceptions and are in no particular order. Let’s get into it!
