Hot off the heels of an electrifying performance at Empty Bottle at the top of the year, serial synthwave sensations Replicant join a killer lineup of acts slated to perform at next month’s Research & Development music series at Smartbar on February 20. Also on the bill are JS Alvarez, Hot Piss, and Prostitutes (performing live in addition to Replicant). If you (sadly) missed out on that Empty Bottle set, this is your chance to join them in the fog for yet another immersive and unforgettable live experience set to some killer tunes.
The recent sold-out performance included some of my absolute favorite tracks from the Chicago trio, including “The Resistance”, “Drifter”, “A Taste of Midnight” and more, closing out the night with “Black Light”. I remember my very first time catching them perform was actually at the same venue, performing with one of the same acts (Fee Lion), but back in 2017.
Relatively new to Chicago at that time, not only did I find that this venue was the most chill and inclusive spot for shows – but I discovered two of the best local acts in one night! Whether it’s EB, Concord, or Bottom Lounge – doesn’t matter, I’m not missing a Replicant show. So you’ll definitely catch me at this event – and did I mention this gig is FREE? You’ve got no excuses! (I mean, unless you have work the next morning, but you’ll survive.) See exactly the vibe I’m talking about by listening to “A Taste Of Midnight Below”, and hopefully I’ll see you there!
