New Rufus Du Sol Album Solace is FINALLY Out!
My Aussie boys Rufus du Sol are back with the long awaited follow-up to 2013’s Atlas record, which is the album initially spawned my deep appreciation for their work. The highly anticipated new LP Solace was released last weekend, October 19th to be exact. The project features 9 new songs, including the singles “No Place” and “Underwater”.
I don’t want to pick favorites too soon (or at all) but Solace may have just dethroned Bloom as my favorite Rufus album! While I like them all, I feel like this one is not too long, not too short – and it really flows together as one piece. I don’t have one song that I am not in the “mood” for; I can play through them all. What do you think?

Another New Music Video from Empress Of – “I Don’t Even Smoke Weed”!
Check out this music video from Empress Of’s sophomore album Us, which features the new single “I Don’t Even Smoke Weed”.
In the high-energy, 80’s-influenced clip, Lorely Rodriguez (aka the Empress herself) sports and enviable studded leather jacket, bountiful ombré curls, and some killer satin gloves.
With a beyond catchy beat and unforgettable lyrics like “I’m in the palm of your hand, eating out the palm of your hand” – this is easily one of my favorite tracks on the new album. I can’t help but think about all of the live vocal manipulations she’s gonna do when performing this song, and I will not be missing her Chicago stop of her just-announced worldwide tour.
She doesn’t come around too often, and the last time I saw her was during 2016’s Pitchfork Music Festival weekend over at Schubas Tavern. But you can catch her nonetheless on March 1 of next year at Chicago’s Sleeping Village. Tix are on sale now – don’t miss out!
